Loving Lately

Happy Wednesday, Friends! I hope you’re having a great week so far. I read online the other day that there are only 10 more Sundays until Fall? Wow. Not going to lie, I’m kind of getting excited. Ha! Today’s actually my husband’s birthday (also the sweet guy behind the camera of this blog), so we’re prepping for his birthday dinner celebration all day! It’s so cute, our oldest gets pretty excited to help with everything when it comes to birthdays, well, everything really. I adore his enthusiasm about life!

In the meantime, I thought I’d round up a few favorites that I’m loving lately for you!

Peplum Top

I cannot say enough great things about this top. It’s incredibly flattering, and it comes in 4 colors. I have the first version (stripe), and I’m thinking about adding the white or the gingham next.

J.Crew Pompom sweatshirt

Pompoms on a sweatshirt? So fun, and easy to throw on with shorts or whatever you’re wearing really. I’m always cold, so this would be perfect to take everywhere during the day.

Ruffle tank

This is so pretty and perfect for a date night. A great layering top for Fall.

J.Crew Tie Neck Dress

I really like this dress, and the tie neck is so flattering. This would be a great dress for date night or church. Added bonus? It’s on sale right now!

Belle Sleeve Tie Front Top

This top is currently on sale (yay!), and it looks like it would be really cute with jeans & shorts. I love the subtle ruffle sleeve detail.

One Shoulder Top

When Summer comes to an end, I’m really going to miss my one shoulder tops. They’re so fun, chic and I love how tailored this one looks.

I recently started exercising again, short runs for right now & building up to longer ones. I’m extremely picky about my workout gear & the fit. I love this waistband on these shorts, so these might be the next pair I get.

I love this bright pink color, and the material looks super soft. An everyday staple for your closet that can be worn year round. Win, win!

These earrings are so pretty, and would go with everything.

The Peplum Top

If there is one style of top that I will never tire of in my closet, it’s the peplum top. It’s timeless, year round. It’s flattering. It’s unbelievably chic. It’s feminine. The list goes on and on. It’s quite possibly the most versatile top you can wear. It runs a close race with the classic button up for me. It looks great with skinny pants, wide leg pants, shorts and even skirts. You can wear it alone or under a blazer/cardigan, too. Peplum jackets are even better. It’s that good my friends. I literally get giddy when I find one I love – I guess it’s the girly girl in me. Either way, this style will always be in my closet.

Below are some peplum styles I love right now.

Short Sleeve Asymmetrical Peplum Top

This is a great wear now and wear later piece. It looks great alone now, and all you have to do is add a cute blazer or cardigan in the Fall.

Peplum Tank

I would not style this with the skirt they have on the model, but I would wear this top with white jeans, denim and dressy skinny pants.

Checked Poplin Peplum Top

Peplum? Check. Gingham? Check, check. This gorgeous top might just have to come home with me. So many options.

This top is really pretty. You can dress it up and dress it down. It will be in your closet for years.

Embroidered Details

I love the embroidery detail for the Summer months. I think some of these items could also easily take you into the Fall months, as well. Just throw on a blazer or cardigan, and you’ve got an entirely new look (minus the tan). So, since we can’t change this heat, we can embrace it. Shall we?

Be Squared – Gingham

Gingham is quite possibly the most popular pattern in fashion, well, that and stripes. It’s timeless which is probably one of the reasons why I love it so much. You can wear it year round, you can decorate your home with this pattern, and you can even eat off of adorable gingham plates, monogrammed if you so desire. I simply love gingham. I love the fact that it’s also so simple, too. It’s an incredibly wearable pattern for women and men of all ages. You can literally wear it from the time you’re a baby to the time your 92. You’ll find this pattern in so many rich colors, which is what makes it fun. Besides the gingham clothing my family and I wear, we recovered some bamboo chairs in a cranberry, yellow, green and gold gingham pattern 4 years ago. These chairs are just happy, preppy chairs in our living room. To this day, I never tire of them. So, whether or not you want to wear gingham, decorate with it or even tote the pattern around town, know it will never go out of style.

This top is amazing. It’s a little bit dressier than a classic button up, which is a nice change. I love the 3/4 sleeve length. This top would look great with white jeans in the summer or a cute pair of shorts, too.

The St. Anne Tote

Barrington Gift totes are my favorite. This gingham print is new for Summer. I have the St. Anne Axis diaper bag tote, and it holds everything we need very well. This new navy, gingham tote just might have to be added to my collection.

Melamine Monogram Salad Plates

Have you seen the “Preppy Paper Girl” shop on Etsy? Everything in her shop is incredibly chic. If you need a gift for someone preppy, this is the only place you need to shop. These salad plates come in so many beautiful colors, and would look great for everyday or if you’re hosting a party. These plates would make a great hostess gift too.

Staffordshire Folded Notecards

Another great pick from the Preppy Paper Girl shop. Call me old fashioned, but I am a big fan of snail mail. I was raised to write handwritten thank you notes. I will be instilling this same tradition in my children, too. These gingham notecards make writing your thank you notes so much more fun in my opinion.
