When I first saw these linen pants at J.Crew, I had to add them to my closet. I absolutely love the wide leg style & fit. They’re timeless, and oh so flattering (on so many body types!), and I know I’ll wear this navy color for years. These pants even have a subtle herringbone texture to them. This blouse has also been one of my favorites this Summer. I adore a bow, especially an unexpected one, in the back. Fun, right? Unfortunately, my blouse is sold out; however, this one (is on sale right now!) and this one are both very similar, and I like these styles just as much. These blouses go with pretty much any pair of pants (or shorts) in your closet, and can be dressed up or down, depending on where you’re headed. This clutch is so cute (and it also can be worn with straps), and it comes in a solid black color as well. I apparently can’t turn down a pretty bow. Who can? No one I know, that’s for sure! I normally would shy away from a white handbag with two kids, but I just save it for a night out. This would also make a fun Fourth of July outfit, don’t you think?

Hope you’re having a fun holiday weekend so far. Happy (early!) Fourth of July!

This gingham top is so fun to dress up for Summer, especially with the pop of neon pink! And, the ruffle sleeves are pretty much my favorite finishing touch. I actually bought this top last Fall from J.Crew, and I couldn’t wait to wear it once we had our second little one. These would be just as pretty in my closet: thisthis, and this top would just be a dream! If it’s the color pink, it’s sure to catch my attention. I can’t turn down a feminine top. (I don’t know who can?) I paired this top with these pants because they’re classic, and literally go with almost every top in my closet. It also looks great with these white jeans, or scallop shorts, too.

I bought this blouse last year; however, it’s so good that ShopBop still has it this year! I also own it in white. It’s incredibly flattering, and the bell sleeves are the real reason to buy it. The best part is that you can dress it up or down. The sleeves are what caught my eye. And, now this pretty dress is calling my name for Summer, for the same reason. Now, let’s talk about these J.Crew Collection leopard pants, shall we? They were so fun to add to my closet! I have a few J.Crew Collection pieces, and the quality & style is timeless. I know I’ll be wearing these cropped pants for years, (leopard is a neutral) and that’s the best part about making a fashion investment. In my opinion, these investments really pay off, because you wear those pieces well past one season. You can shop the J.Crew collection pieces when they’re on sale (that’s when I snagged these pants I’m wearing!), and you can really scoop up some classics during those sales, so keep your eyes out, it’ll be worth it, trust me. Right now, I’ve got my eyes on these, these and this.

Navy Blue + White

Version 3

I know that I’m not alone when I say I love blue & white paired together, especially navy blue. It’s such a crisp, yet classic summer outfit.  This blouse is so pretty, and even better in person. The peplum is a go-to favorite of mine, and the neckline is really flattering for any body type. I was a year round swimmer for many years growing up (fun fact, I know), so my shoulders are broader than most; therefore, I’m always on the lookout for tops that accentuate my “swimmer” shoulders. This one is another cute option as well.
And, these mules are so mom-friendly, yet still really, really fun! I’m pretty sure I bought these just because of the poms poms! They look great with white jeans and shorts, too. Sadly, mine are sold out, but these are just as chic. I actually had a hard time deciding between the two!

Happy August, Everyone! I can’t believe this Summer is closing in on us. Although, I can’t say that I’m going to miss the heat wave we’ve been having, not one bit.

There’s nothing I love more than neutrals. In my opinion, you can never have too many in your closet. A lot of what I wore when I was working were neutrals. I still love them today. They’re polished, and go with everything, literally. What’s even better? Pairing neutrals together. To me, it’s incredibly chic, especially in the hot, Summer months. Linen pants are so much cooler in the Summer months, and these wide leg pants are always a flattering fit with a feminine top. This camisole’s cutout/embroidery detail is so pretty, and adds the perfect pop of contrast for this light and airy look. I also plan to make this camisole work overtime in the Fall/Winter months with cardigans and blazers, too. I typically accessorize with color; however, I thought this cashew tote was the right addition to my outfit. The best part about a neutral outfit, is that you can have a lot more fun with your jewelry. These black and white pom pom earrings didn’t have any competition when it comes to getting noticed, and that’s just want I wanted to happen.

Happy Monday, Friends!

J.Crew Factory – The June Edit

As I mentioned in this post, I want to bring you my “top picks” from what I consider my more budget-friendly shops, especially when they’re having great sales.

As I have said many times before, when I shop, I like to buy things that will last for more than one season (more like for many years my friends), and that I’ll truly love for a long time.

Since J.Crew Factory is offering an Extra 30% off Everything online only  (Use Code: SPLASHYSALE), plus free shipping today only, I thought I would give you my “June Edit” for J.Crew Factory.

Happy Shopping!

Factory Laser Cut Swing Tee

C5881_OR6089

The laser cut sleeves is what really drew me to this top. It’s unexpected, but welcomed to what would be just an ordinary top. This top would look great with any pair of jeans and shorts right now.

Factory Long Sleeve Eyelet Shirt

C4499_WT0002

I really love the eyelet detail on this shirt. I also love the long sleeves. I am not opposed to wearing a long sleeve top in the Summer months since it does have such a lightweight look about it. It would look perfect with a great pair of white jeans (I am a big fan of an all white outfit in the Summer) or shorts.

Factory Flared Skirt

B0314_NA6434

These flared skirts caught my eye at J.Crew during the Fall when I was expecting. I fell in love with the look, but needed to wait until post baby to wear it. Now that I can wear this skirt, my color choice is ivory. It will look great in the Summer with a classic button up and sandals, and even better in the Fall/Winter with black tights, boots and a sweater. V.E.R.S.A.T.I.LE.

 Factory Boyfriend Boatneck Sweater

C6047_BL7266

There’s nothing better than throwing on a Summer weight sweater to keep you cozy on those cooler evenings. It’s the perfect baby blue hue, too.

Factory Maxi Dress with Pom Pom Trim

C3969_WT0002

This maxi is gorgeous. I was sold with the pom poms, but the embroidery detail is pretty too.

Factory Printed Pleated Short

C2001_MF1522

This print is both bright and abstract, which just screams Summer to me. Put on a crisp, white button up and cute sandals and “hello Summer chic!”

Factory Rattan Clutch

72968_ED5896

Kate Spade had a similar design, but this one is a fraction of the price, which makes it even better. I would love to have this clutch for a date night or girls night out.

Old Navy – Favorites Lately

Old Navy has really outdone themselves this season. Lately, I have been shopping there for my entire family. If you sign up to receive their emails, you save an additional 20% off your first purchase, too.

On a side note: In the Wall Street Journal yesterday they were talking about how J.Crew has really started losing their loyal customer base. I will have to say I am one of them. I love J.Crew (especially the Tall pants and their coats), but I am loving J.Crew Factory more and more lately.  J.Crew Factory and Old Navy are my two “go-to” stores now. Old Navy has really taken a turn towards the preppy styles, and that makes me one, happy girl. Plus, you cannot beat their prices when they’re having these great sales!

Below are my favorites from Old Navy right now.

Boxy Scalloped Edge Top

cn9601888

This top is adorable. Combining a scalloped edge and eyelet is perfection in my book. You can wear this with shorts and jeans! It’s a really pretty top. I love the length on the sleeves, too. It also comes in white.

 Embroidered Gauze Camis

cn9593636

I wear camis all of the time in the Summer. Throw on a cardigan or wear alone. I love the embroidery detail. The cobalt blue is gorgeous.

 Striped Boatneck Tops

cn9587345

This top is an everyday staple. Perfect with a pair of solid or patterned shorts or white jeans. It comes in some really great colors, too. A great shirt for Moms, yet still stylish!

 Scalloped Edge Sleeveless Top

cn9480905

LOVE this top. Again, the scalloped edge and eyelet. It was love at first sight. It also comes in several colors. Wear it with shorts, jeans or a great pair of skinny pants.

Printed Pixie Chino Shorts

cn9617316

Stripes. You can never have too many. Perfect everyday shorts for the Summer. Pair them with a classic button up or a causal tee and sandals and you’re set.

Jersey Tank Maxi Dress

cn9698282

If you want to be comfortable, but still in style a maxi dress is the way to go. The neckline is different, and this dress comes in tall!

Pleated Crepe Skirt

cn9482026

This skirt is cute. I love the simple stripes at the bottom. A very nautical color combination.

 Suede Wedge Sandals

cn9199326

Pink wedges! I am in love. You can wear these pretty shoes with anything this Summer. Pair these with shorts, pants, skirts…whatever your heart desires!

What are you loving at Old Navy lately? What did you think about the WSJ article about J.Crew? I still love J.Crew, too. I haven’t given up on them.

Your Go-To Shirt

There are so many styles out in the fashion world that come and go, but one has remained a “go-to” for me, and for society for years and years – the button up shirt.

If you walk into your closet and don’t own any button up shirts, you need to get a few. This will save you during those mornings of “I don’t have anything to wear.” You can pair this shirt with a great pair of jeans, dress pants, a skirt of any length or even an pair of cut off shorts. It’s so versatile and flattering, every time. Are you noticing a theme on this blog yet? You may have noticed I am a big believer in “versatility.”

The button up shirt is seriously my go-t0 shirt year round when I want to look pulled together in an instant. I used to iron at least 7 button up shirts every Sunday evening when I was single and working. It’s a style staple every woman needs in her closet. It’ll be forever chic in my book, and yours.

If you don’t want to go to the dry cleaners every week, just invest in a really good iron & some heavy starch. Before you set out to iron, just turn on your favorite TV show or music, and ironing won’t seem like such torture.

I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite button up shirts, and some looks to get you inspired!

Sale Alert – Ann Taylor LOFT

Many of you may already know about the Ann Taylor LOFT sale going on now. At first, it was only offered in stores, and now they’ve expanded the sale to online as well! As a busy Mom, trying to get out of the house in between naptime, playtime and feeding times can be difficult, so I’m really glad that they’re offering this deal online now.

Just use the Promo code: HALFSIES to get 50% off everything!

They have some really cute, cute pieces this season. Here’s what I’m loving!

Fringe Trim Shift Dress

imageService_2

This dress is gorgeous. The shift style is really flattering, and the fringe trim reminds me of a Tory Burch dress that The Duchess of Cambridge (so wish I had her closet!) wore last year. I can see wearing this for many seasons. Classic.

Fluid Strapless Jumpsuit

imageService_3

I wasn’t a fan of the jumpsuits until now. This is very sleek and modern. I prefer a solid jumpsuit to a print/patterned one. This one is perfect for the Spring/Summer.

Tall Linen Wide Leg Trousers

imageServiceD1TZ1I6W

I have never been disappointed with their tall pants. White linen pants in the Summer is a must for me. So timeless, and the wide leg is very chic paired with a more fitted top.

 Striped Sailor Riviera Shorts

imageService1XOHWFLI

You can’t go wrong with the sailor style. I still have a few sailor J.Crew shorts from when I was wait for it…17 years old. The yellow color is different and so happy. I love how the “Riviera” style fits, as the length is also very Mom-friendly!

 Elephant Riviera Shorts

imageServiceFH8029WT

I own these and love them. I would wear them everyday if I could. Ok, maybe not everyday, but a lot. The elephant print is adorable. The navy color is perfect to pair with pink, lighter blues, neutrals, and even green tops. Lots of outfit options.

Abstract Riviera Shorts

imageServiceR1MY53WN

The orange/pink color screams Summer time. You could pair these with classic button ups, tees or even a dressy blouse!

 Banded Sandals

imageServiceZJ9LR28X

These are a great neutral, everyday sandal. I like the coral version, too. Flats are a must when chasing a little one around.

Tiered Green Stone Necklace

imageServiceSQBFR8OF

This is so so pretty. I love the color of the green stones. Another classic to wear with pretty much any outfit you want. You’ll wear this necklace for years. Trust me.

Have you shopped the sale yet? If so, what are your favorites? I would love to hear them!

Classic Combination

IMG_8498

If there are two things that I love to wear together, it’s a pair of great skinny pants and a pretty blouse. This combination is a win win for work, date night or even every day as a Mom.  I never tire of this look, because it is always in style and it’s very flattering. I snagged the blouse that I’m wearing for $17.50 during one of J.Crew’s major sales. I love it so much that I bought it in black, too. Here’s a similar blouse that’s perfect for Spring. Blouses like these can be dressed up with skinny pants, but they’re also great paired with jeans or skirts. Remember to always wear skinny pants with a looser fitting top to balance your look. For any expectant Moms out there, it’s a great style to wear, too. I wore this combination a lot while I was expecting.

These J.Crew skinny pants are worth every penny.  I honestly don’t know how I ever lived without them. I actually own them in black, burgundy and navy. They are that good my friends. So, if you see them buy them in every color (especially if they’re on sale -and they are right now!). The best part is that you can wear them year round. Just switch out your Fall/Winter boots for cute sandals, and you’re set for Spring/Summer. I paired my favorite green sandals (old, but similar here) to add a pop of color. You can always add color to a classic combo like this through accessories like these, this, and these. That’s the best part of putting on a black/cream outfit like this – the endless options to wear great accessories to help change up your look.
