Where I’ve Been + Happy Weekend!

First of all, I want to apologize for my absence, as I have been trying to keep up with the blog in between a teething toddler (which means lots of nap drives and Starbucks drive-thru runs for us the past two months), and now a sick toddler after a play date last week.  I would typically blog during a nap time, but since I’ve been out on nap drives instead, this blog has had to take a back seat for a little while. The good news is that during those nap drives, I’ve been able to do a lot of brainstorming for the blog, so between my little one getting rest, I’ve been productive too!

On a random side note, I’ve actually started to get up about an hour & 1/2 before everyone else in the house (around 5:30AM) to do some blogging and sip my first cup of coffee while the sun rises. It’s actually really peaceful & relaxing for me.  Contrary to what some people think of a SAHM life is, there’s no such thing as “me time” or “free time.”  I wouldn’t have it any other way either. I LOVE taking care of my family.  So, the nap time blogging is changing to early morning blogging going forward.
For all of those still with me, thank you, and please know that I love this little creative space of mine, and I do intend to have tons of great posts to share with you! I just wanted to pop in and give you a little update on me/us, so you don’t think I’ve forgotten about you!

What are your plans for this long weekend ahead? Our plans include: relaxing and painting our master bedroom. Which really means, my husband will be painting, while I watch our toddler! This has been on our “to-do” list since we’ve moved into the house 3 years ago, and I could not be more excited! For 3 years, I’ve been thinking of painting it a “seafoam” mint color; however, now I’m thinking…a very light gray? What to do?

Here are a few bedroom paint colors that have inspired me from Pinterest:

I hope y’all are looking forward to a relaxing weekend ahead. I know we sure are! We have little to no plans right now, and that’s fine by us. We’ll probably head to our favorite pancake place tomorrow morning with our little one, and “go with the flow” the rest of the weekend.

Even though I am so ready for Fall, I love this camisole below from J.Crew’s new arrivals. It’s currently 30% off with the code “GOSHOPPING.” The ruffle hemline is timeless. I would totally wear this year round with skinny pants, wide leg denim and so much more. I would even layer it under my sweaters, too.

What are your favorites from the J.Crew sale?

Until Monday, Friends!

We are entertaining company this weekend, and celebrating my husband’s birthday (We had a fun celebration last night with my family already!), so we’ll be pretty busy this weekend. I have to sign-off and go clean like a crazy woman now. Why do I always wait until the last minute? My house isn’t dirty by any means, but I need to do little things here and there that just take time. I love entertaining, but since I was raised Southern, and to be a wonderful hostess, that means in my book, everything must be “perfect’ for my guests. I was raised to have high standards for myself in everything I do in life, and I like it that way. At my core, that’s just who I am. Even though it can be exhausting, it’s worth it. It makes me happy to try and make my guests always feel welcome and at home when they visit. But I’m not going to lie, sometimes I feel as though I need a vacation after entertaining. Does anyone else feel this way? Oh well. I’ll just have an extra cup of joe to get me through the day!

Do you have fun plans ahead? I sure hope so! Enjoy!

This week was the exact opposite of last week for me. Did it fly by for you? I cannot believe it’s already Friday, but I’m not complaining. I do apologize for the lack of blog posts…the time just simply got away from me this week. I had great intentions of sitting down during my second cup of coffee (once my little one was asleep during naptime), and other things just kept taking my attention away from blogging. I’ll be back next week, and have tons of great posts for you.

If you’re searching for a great recipe to make this weekend, make this Mexican casserole. It is amazing, and everyone gobbled it up (even the little one!). I also may try and make this Kentucky Butter Cake recipe for our Father’s Day celebration/brunch on Sunday.

What are your plans for this weekend? I hope whatever you’re doing, it’s relaxing and spent with the ones you love.  We’re planning on taking our twinkle toes to our favorite breakfast spot Saturday morning for some pancakes (first time!). We also have a birthday party to attend for some dear friends of ours which we are looking forward to on Saturday afternoon.  And, I may or may not have a small “honey to-do list” for the Mr. in my life! There will be plenty of relaxing involved as well, as I am not that mean. Wink. Wink.

I apologize for the few posts this week, but it’s been a little hectic around here (a good hectic though). Next week we’ll be back on a regular posting schedule.

You should try this recipe out if you’re having company over. It’s a family favorite of ours,  it’s so easy, and so good!

Until then, we have a low key weekend planned ahead, which we are looking forward to for sure. Whatever you have planned for this weekend, have fun!

Happy Weekend!

T.G.I.F! I am thrilled it’s Friday! Who’s with me?

We are so looking forward to celebrating our first Easter with our little twinkle toes & my family! Before I sign-off for the Easter weekend, I wanted to leave you with some inspiring thoughts!
